Armies Of Exigo Review

The Entertainment Depot has a review up for the PC version of Armies Of Exigo, a RTS game developed by Black Hole Games. Here is a small quote from thier review of the game:The flow of the missions could also use some work. In the midst of a good mixture of tasks and story will be a timed mission that only serves to force the point home that much of the game is trial-and-error, requiring many scenarios enough to know when to do what, because of the computer's limited ambitions - though it tends to get inspired when it has only a few minutes to win. Well if you want that review, then go here.

Over on the ecoustics.com site they posted an article entitled Terms Used To Describe How A Loudspeaker Sounds and here is a quote from said article: Reviewers can become almost poetic in their descriptions of loudspeaker sound. For instance, does a term like "chocolaty midrange" have meaning for anyone other than the writer who used it? Does it mean that the sound is smooth, thick, or dark? And is it a criticism or a compliment? Who knows? Check that out on ecoustics.com already.

GameZone has a review online for The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (Developer's Cut) on the PC. Now is a good time for a quote: When Riddick is in stealth mode, he can drag dead bodies out of sight, sneak up and kill enemies from behind, or most importantly, slink right past them. The game notifies you of your current level of stealthiness by changing the hue of the game to blue. This was an appreciated little facet of the game. Go read that Chronicles Of Riddick review!

Gamer's Hell posted up a review for Celtic Kings The Punic Wars and here is a quote from what they had to say about the game:RPG elements withstanding, this game is certainly an RTS and a pretty good one at that. ‘The Punic Wars’ is Haemimont Games’ follow-up to their 2002 game ‘The Celtic Kings: Rage of War’. The single player consists of single battle mode or adventure mode. The adventure mode is made up of five campaigns, which are in turn made up of a varying number of missions and set against the backdrop of the Punic wars; the general history of which is presented via good narration and introductory cut scenes. You get to play the campaigns as either the Roman or Carthaginian armies depending on the particular campaign you chose. So if your into the RTS games then check out that Celtic Kings The Punic Wars review.

World Of Gothic has posted up an interesting Gothic III interview and here's a snip from the article:Up to now, each gothic part had his own characteristics but there was still a common look-and-feel. Part III contains again a couple of completely new elements. I cannot follow the criticism concerning Gothic II in this point. Nevertheless, each game had new influences while the previous elements didn't loose their right to exist. But I assume that Gothic III will have a feeling similar to the one of Gothic I. Personally I was hoping the question of controls and inventory would arise but alas they did not within this Gothic III Interview. I could rant about bad controls but I won't.

2404 has a review for Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Here is a quote from the review:This game has an awful lot in common with various first person shooters on the market, with a healthy dose of third person melee combat included. As a pure shooter, many will find this game a tad askew. Firearms in this setting tend to do very little damage in comparison to your vampire’s blood abilities and superhuman strength. Due to this fact, and a less than stellar damaging model, I found myself straying away from firearms in this game. So if you interested in this RPG that was developed by Troika Games, then have a read of the complete review. Also note that a patch was released on the 21st that updates the game to version 1.2 and download links are available off of the Troika Games main page.

There just happens to be a dual shot of interviews for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Here is a small quote from the first interview with Todd Howard:It's big - in some areas it's bigger than Morrowind, in some it's not. There are over 100 very meaty quests and tons to do. I think scale is hard to describe. It's something you have to play to understand. We measure gameplay hours by the hundreds, not by the "tens." We're more focused on the quality of the interactions we're building. You can read the full review on computerandvideogames.com. Next is an Interview with Gavin Carter and here is a quote:As I mentioned, the magic system is getting some tender love and attention from our team of programmers and artists. We’ve thought up some really great new ways of implementing some of the spell effects – tying them in with physics and shader effects, changing how some of the projectiles function, better ironing out balance issues, and a host of other improvements. You can delve into the rest of the interview on FileFront. Both of those interviews were found during a visit to Shack News.

I just noticed on the Totally Elite Force site that Milky has reviewed Medal Of Honor: Pacific Assault. Here is a snip from what Milky thinks of the game:For a game using the ancient Quake 3 engine, MOHPA actually achieves amazing visuals. The jungles settings were designed to cover up the linear game play and it does so very effectively, hiding the edges of the map in dense jungle without confusing you where to go next. The textures and the jungle foliage are easy on the eyes, although this certainly isn't a "sit and enjoy the view" kinda game like Halo or Farcry. Well here is the linkage for that review if your interested in reading more.

GameMecca did up a review for the Painkiller expansion pack. Here is a piece from the full review:The graphics engine has been updated. This brings both positive and negative benefits. On the positive side, it adds heat and haze distortion, specular mapping, and Shader Model 3.0 support. On the negative side, anyone without one of the latest cards will probably take a big hit in the framerates. This will requiring lowering the resolution or texture details or turning off graphic features in order to maintain the same level of play as before. The original game too can be replayed with the new graphics effects, yet another incentive to revisit the prior game. Time to go read the complete Battle Out Of Hell review.

According to CNet tight pants is a problem with cell phones and ends up with the phones getting broken.A survey of 300 retailers in Sweden found that squeezing handsets into snug-fitting pants is the second leading cause of broken phones. Apparently, the phones simply can't handle the pressure, and screens break or covers bend or crack. So apparently... and this is no surprise to me, they're making these phones out of junk. So are your pants too tight?

In first person you see no gun, and only get a flash and no sense of actually firing a gun, just pointing and clicking your mouse, it might as well be a window interface. Here is a quote from the preview:Whether you're playing underground or on the surface, one thing is certain: this is a really pretty game. Liquid is creating a fantastic game world full of things to see, impressive monsters, and well animated units. Eberon is full of life and detail and is truly a gorgeous game from top to bottom. Check out that three page preview right here.

The game is a multiplayer, retro-style action-RTS where seemingly simplistic gameplay gives way to a myriad of subtle, yet complex strategies. In addition to a graphical face lift inspired by abstract Japanese shmups (shoot'em-ups), players can now, at any time during the game, access a tightly integrated lobby chat (IRC client) to find other Gate 88 players. Significant improvements have also been made to the network code. By the way, the game is reminiscent of Herzog Zwei, Star Control, Subspace, Homeworld, and Parsec 47. You play the role of Tommy Conlin in the United States Marine Corps. This means, as his colleague Frank Minoso jokes, you won't be cleaning up and babysitting airfields. Not long after the opening sequence, Conlin experiences a flashback that takes him back to boot camp. Here, you get a better acquaintance with the men in your squad. Then you're shipped off to Pearl Harbor where you race off just when Japanese Zeros begin strafing the United States' Pacific naval headquarters. Each level maintains its own feel so that they all have their own unique vibe; the orphanage is a bit creepy, the zombie cities are full of despair and dread, and the lab is just filled with a more aggressive feel and pacing.
