If you hit Worthplaying there's a couple new screenshots from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.A group of stalkers has for the first time reached the very heart of the Zone – Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. An immense blowout of anomalous energy changes the Zone. There are no more reliable and relatively safe roads. The entire levels vanish in the outbursts of anomalies. Stalkers and even expeditions die or end up sealed on the lost territories. New areas, which remained unknown since the time of the Zone emergence, appear on the Zone map. The Zone continues to shake with blowouts. The Zone is unstable. The anomalous activity is at its maximum. Have a look at those screenshots.

We felt it was a really important thing to do that helped extend character profession past level 20. These skills are also more tied in with the PvE story. This is certainly no easy feat but one that 2KGames handles quite nicely. Everything in the world fits and nothing seems to be out of place. At times it is very nerve racking while at other times the games makes you think. That's all on Bjorn3D.

Good Morning! Over on IGN they put up a preview for Unreal Tournament 3.The first map we jumped into was Deimos, a hulking alien space station that features a massive turret that could be manned if you were brave enough to venture into the vacuum of space to find it. There's also an anti-gravity tunnel that can be ventured into for some slow-motion-like battles. During our exploration of Deimos we were lucky enough to stumble upon the Redeemer, which by now everyone knows as the SIXAXIS guided nuclear missile. Fire the sucker, guide it with the PS3 controller and watch people die. It's fantastic. Hit that preview for more Unreal Tournament 3 info!

I didn't realize this until today, that fantasy author Robert Jordan passed away on Sept 16 at the age of 58. This is like the time my favorite author David Gemmell died, I didn't know about it until I read somebody's post on a forum and in this case I discovered the fact in +Acyclitor+'s Thread on our Newdoom Forums. CHARLESTON, South Carolina (AP) -- Author Robert Jordan, whose "Wheel of Time" series of fantasy novels sold millions of copies, has died of a rare blood disease, his aide said Monday. He was 58.
Jordan, whose real name was James Oliver Rigney Jr., died Sunday at the Medical University of South Carolina of complications from primary amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy, his personal assistant, Maria Simons, said. The disease attacks the body's major organs; in Jordan's case, it caused the walls of his heart to thicken. That quote comes from this CNN Article. It's unfortunate that he was working on the 12th Wheel of Time novel before he died and it was supposedly the last book in the series.

If one checks out the Elder Scrolls site and then hit the official forum you can read a new Community Q&A thread where Todd Howard answered 20 fan submitted questions (plus 5 bonus questions) concerning the upcoming Fallout 3.1. Is unarmed combat in? If so, is it lethal or does it knockout your opponent? [Waterchip]
Yes, it’s in, and yes, it’s lethal. It’s a big part of the game, and as far as game balance, it’s our goal to make melee as viable as using guns in killing off enemies. It’s something we’re obviously still balancing, but I expect melee to be more “lethal”, as getting near an opponent can be more difficult, especially if they have a gun, but at the same time, you don’t have to worry about your ammo counts, so that’s an immediate benefit to melee. Go read the rest of that Community Q&A.

Nick Valentino of GameZone took the time to write up a review for the collectors edition of Two Worlds so lets take a snip of what he has to say:As a gamer who fancies Collector’s Editions, Two Worlds packages an extra disk that includes the game’s soundtrack (which is good), some concept art (equally good) and some video (just so-so). The real treat comes in the form of the map and a hardcover tabletop RPG book that requires playing dice, pen and paper. The book itself lists some helpful information that makes perfect sense to the single-player game. Well there's a lot more to read about the game so go check out that Two Worlds review.

Good morning! I was looking through some game sites and discovered the Painkiller Overdose site. Until now I didn't have a clue that Dreamcatcher and Jowood planned to publish a Painkiller prequel. Some reading reveals that it started as a community mod and is in development by Mindware Studios. More searching found this Painkiller Overdose Interview on 2404 that was posted in August. Also there's this Hands On that IGN posted.Originally born as a grassroots development project by Mindware Studios, DreamCatcher and JoWooD are fully endorsing the project. By providing full financial and publisher support, Mindware will now receive additional technology and assets in order to move Overdose from a simple community mod to a full-fledged retail-ready gaming experience. The game is expected to be released in October. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

The fighting is simple, has a nice stick-and-move rhythm to it, and the different weapons lend enough variety to keep things interesting. Go read that Two Worlds Review.

I'm a Conan fan and a PC gamer so I find it a drag that I seem to be missing out on the Conan stuffs. The last Conan game for the PC was The Dark Axe, which was never released here in North America (it had bad mouse support anyways). The upcoming Age of Conan is a MMO so I'm avoiding that as I don't MMO beyond Guild Wars. Now for a second I got excited when I spotted Conan The Barbaric but alas, tis for the Xbox 360 and PS3..... oh well.Conan is about as violent a mass-market property as we can think of, and indeed the real viscera of the game's combat doesn't become apparent till you start using the more complex combos and exploring some of the more advanced mechanics. Maybe it will get ported to the PC? Meanwhile the console dudes will get to enjoy the game sometime in October. That preview is on Gamespot. I wonder, how much is an Xbox 360 selling for these days? Crom!

"The world weeps for Luciano Pavarotti," runs the headline in Corriere della Sera of Milan, which would have saluted the passing of other local heroes Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini in similar vein.
"Italy in turmoil and grief for Pavarotti," says La Repubblica, and "The world in mourning for the Maestro" says the official news agency Ansa. Thanks to Phoebus for sending me the link to the news story.
