 Iron Man Review
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:42 PM
Category: Action

I haven't seen the Iron Man movie yet (Phoebus gives it two thumbs up) and lots of people are saying it's cool. Thing is, there's also a Iron Man game and IGN took the time to review it. Here is a snip
Loosely based on the No. 1 film in America, Iron Man tosses you into the red-and-gold suit of Tony Stark and sets you loose on more than a dozen missions filled with guards, laser cannons and super villains that you won't find in the movie--folks such as Whiplash and Titanium Man. It might sound cool, but the problem is that this story is largely invented and strays from the plot points and character-defining moments of the film.

Inon Zur To Compose Fallout 3 Soundtrack
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:41 AM
Category: Role Playing

I thought Jeremy Soule might be the composer to do the Fallout 3 soundtrack but it has been revealed on Worthplaying that this is not the case at all. Bethesda has decided to go with Inon Zur for Fallout 3.
"We've wanted to work with Inon for a long time," said Todd Howard executive producer of Fallout 3. "He brings so much to the table, in terms of his talent, background, and the music that's influenced him. He's created a score that has epic sweep; from the lonely ambience of the wasteland to dramatic fights for survival."
You can read more right here. By the way, Inon Zur has done soundtracks for Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, Lineage II, Icewind Dale 2, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, Champions of Norrath and Crysis, just to name a few.

 Dungeon Hero Preview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:25 AM
Category: Role Playing

I won't be so rambling this time.... Lets take a look on the Next Genertaion site at this Dungeon Hero Preview where Simon Bradbury of Firefly Studios talks about the game.
"Goblins are poor and they make crap weapons," says Bradbury. "When you kill them you don't get a little bag of gold and an item. You wouldn't want their amour - it barely protects them." The hero simply doesn't need anything the goblins have, and the gulf between them is obvious - most of all during combat.
Have a look at the full Dungeon Hero Preview.

 Age Of Conan Screenshots
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:50 AM
Category: Massively Multiplayer

Good Morning! I'm a big Conan fan and have been since the days of reading Robert E. Howard's novels and buying copies of the Savage Sword of Conan comic, which unfortunately is no longer being produced. The comic was epic, magazine sized, full of great art and very few advertisements and it was very old-school with black and white / pen and ink panels... I thought it was awesome. But times change and in this day and age we have seen things like the lack-luster Conan: The Dark Axe game (2004) and the promise of a decent animated film based on Robert E. Howard's Red Nails that is supposed to go straight to DVD when they finish. Then there was that 2007 Conan game that came out for the Xbox but I know very little about that. I could go on and on about other Conan-esque stuff but the point I'm getting to is the fact that I'm not into MMO's beyond Guild Wars, but the upcoming MMO Age Of Conan - Hyborian Adventures looks fantastic and very tempting. It looks very faithful to Conan's world - at least in a way that I imagined, due to being influenced by things like Savage Sword. So anyways, Voodoo Extreme has some tasty screenshots that were taken from the full beta version of the game. Looks great! Also hit the official Age Of Conan site for more info. Enough Talk!

The King Of Comic Book Artists
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:32 AM
Category: Comic Books

It's been over a decade since comic book artist Jack Kirby died and CNN has an article up for 'The King' of comic book artists which takes a look back at his career. Jack Kirby is known for co-creating such characters as The Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America.
Kirby was born Jacob Kurtzberg in New York and grew up on Manhattan's Lower East Side, where his adventures with gangs would later filter into many of his heroes. In particular, the rough-and-tumble Ben Grimm, also known as the Thing of the Fantastic Four, was a self-caricature, Evanier observes.

 Aliens Games In Development
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:33 AM

This is a bit of old news but it's all new to me and not a lot has been revealed about two particular games based on the Aliens franchise... I was looking around for nothing in particular and somehow ended up noticing that Gearbox Software is developing a game based on the Aliens movie franchise, which you can see listed right here on thier site. The press release reveals that this was announced way back in December of 2006. Wowzers I didn't even know about this! So now that I'm reading that press release, I notice that Obsidian Entertainmant is developing an Aliens RPG! I didn't know about this! Both developers sites lead to this lack-lustre Sega site (just a teaser page). Some other searching leads to an article about the Gearbox title on Kotaku and another on Games Radar. As for the RPG that Obsidian is devloping, Eurogamer has some info and other sites seem to have as much information, which isn't a lot. Anyhow it's something to look out for, that's for sure. [edit]Just spotted this gameinfowire article that was released recently concerning the Gearbox game.

Grand Theft Auto IV News Roundup
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:57 AM
Category: Action

I was just on digital spy and they have a couple GTA IV articles. The first one is Rockstar VP confused by violence complaints. Here is a snip:
There is nothing in the game you would not see in a TV show, or a movie a hundred times over, so I don't understand what the conversation is about. We set out to make games that felt like they could culturally exist alongside the movies we were watching and the books we were reading, and hopefully we're getting close to those goals.
Then we have Barack Obama Talks GTA IV where he says that games are raising kids. So enough with that.... I dug up some Grand Theft Auto IV reviews which turns out to be more interesting than what some politician has to say. Here are the Grand Theft Auto IV reviews on IGN, Worthplaying, Eurogamer, team xbox, videogamer and Gamespy.

Grand Theft Auto IV For The PC?
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:16 AM
Category: Action

The guys over on IGN are speculating on whether Grand Theft Auto IV will come to the PC or not. The game was, as we all know recently released for Xbox 360 and Ps3. The console community has been having a blast with the title and I can't see why they wouldn't eventually release a PC version of the game.
Steve Butts: At the most basic level, there's no way that Take Two or Rockstar are going to pass up the opportunity to extend the economic and critical success the game is enjoying by bringing it to the PC. I'm not sure how much it costs for them to port the title over, but I'm guessing it's far less than they'll make in sales.
So the question is: Will GTA IV Come to the PC?. Read more over there.....

 StarCraft II Screenshots
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:22 PM
Category: Strategy

Worthplaying put up seven Starcraft 2 Screenshots.
Designed to be the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game, StarCraft II will feature the return of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg races, overhauled and re-imagined with Blizzard's signature approach to game balance. Each race will be further distinguished from the others, with several new units and new gameplay mechanics, as well as new abilities for some of the classic StarCraft units that will be making a reappearance in the game.
That is all on Worthplaying.
